Tackling the Cholera MenaceCholera is an acute diarrheal disease that can kill within hours if left untreated. Cholera is common among people with inadequate access to safe water and basic sanitation. People can get cholera from drinking water or eating food containing cholera bacteria. Cholera can cause life-threatening watery diarrhea and vomiting. Severe cases of cholera need rapid treatment with intravenous fluids and antibiotics.The provision of safe water, basic sanitation, and hygiene practices is critical to preventing and controlling the transmission of cholera and other waterborne diseases.As Nigeria grapples with cholera outbreak, it is essential people are armed with basic preventive information.
