Fallout 76 is an online game, but can you play it solo? Absolutely, and here are some tips to get you started as a lone wanderer. Since Fallout 76 is a live service game, the developers strictly forbid any mods that buff your character or add overpowered weapons.

The Nexus is a legit mod site. It existed long before the workshop. They do, however, have fewer restrictions on their mods, so there may be some issued here and there, but it is unlikely you will have to deal with them as long as you read the mods reviews/comments first.

Sadly, Fallout 76 cannot be played offline, and requires an active internet connection to play. Having said that, the game does offer a single-player experience, as there are plenty of missions that can be tackled alone.

Scrapping an armor part/weapon has a chance to drop a mod for that armor/weapon regardless of what it has on, it can be a basic version with no upgrades and still yield a mod plan. When on workbenches, just check with the "modify" tab.

To obtain Legendary Modules, the player will need to either purchase them from Purveyor Murmrgh, get them from Expeditions, or collect some on the Scoreboard. But note that the Expedition and Scoreboard don't have guaranteed rewards; they may or may not contain Legendary Modules.

Even the most basic mods could be detected by Bethesda Game Studios, and you could pick up a permanent ban for your efforts. There are no Fallout 76 cheats, but if there were, we'd massively advise you to steer clear of them.

Due to the online nature of the game, modifying the game's content in any way can be interpreted as cheating by the server and result in an account-wide ban, though said ban can be appealed and redacted.

You are correct in that the Creation Engine is easy to mod for but Fallout 76 does not currently support mods and the online only nature of the game means that until Bethesda wills it there will be no mods unlike Fallout 4 which had mods available long before Bethesda officially permitted them.

Bethesda Game Studios plans to keep updating Fallout 76 for several years with new content and expansions. Todd Howard anticipates Fallout 76 will remain popular until at least 2026, defying its troubled launch.

I find NMM easier, and that's why I always suggest it. It's pretty much just plug and play, which is good for modding newbies. If you're comfortable with MO2, then keep with it.
