EU unemployment rate (2024)

Germany has one of the lowest unemployment rates within the EU-27. 3.2% of the labour force (15-to74-year-olds) were unemployed in April 2024. The lowest unemployment rate was recorded in Czechia (2.7%) and Poland (3.0%).

In the EU-27 a total of 13.1millioncitizens were without employment in April 2024. This represents an unemployment rate of 6.0%. The euro area seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 6.4% and remained higher than the EU level. The highest unemployment rate was recorded in Spain (11.7%) and Greece (10.8%)

The youth unemployment rate was 14.4% in the EU. The lowest rates were observed in Germany with 5.8%, Malta with 7.1% and Czechia with 7.5%, while the highest were recorded in Spain (26.5%) and Sweden (24.2%).
